Today Pohutukawa Class went out to harvest the feijoas that had fallen on the ground underneath the feijoa hedge out the back of the cooking room.
The whole class went to the cooking room where we got into small groups. We got 2 bowls, a sharp knife, a spoon and a chopping board out ready to slice and scoop the inside of the fruit into one of the bowls.
We all collected the feijoas and got to work. Once the fruit was in the bowl we mashed it up a little with a fork then put 1 1/2 cups into small plastic snap lock bags to freeze. In all we got 19 bags of feijoa pulp that can be used in the future for making feijoa muffins, cake, bread, or even to be used on our breakfasts or in our Friday morning smoothies.
The best part was eating the dregs in the bowl and licking the spoon. YUMMY!!!!
Awesome afternoon.
